It’s not by your might, that builds your ministry!
It’s not by your power, that grows your church!
“But by My Spirit, says The Lord.”
It’s very easy for us as pastors to agree with Zechariah 4:6 and think, “Well of course I don’t believe my might or power is building our church,” but does our calendars agree with that answer? Or would our wives, husbands or close friends agree with that response? I think sometimes we are not aware of how much we depend upon ourselves, rather than Jesus.
Jesus should have been the busiest person, ever, on earth. But all that He did in the gospels only account for about 30 days of His ministry. What about the other three years? He was never in a rush to get anywhere. In fact when Lazarus died, his very good friend died, He hung around for another three days before leaving. Why? Because He was waiting for the word from the Father to go. How often do we rush about, reacting to situations and people, rather than waiting on the Father for His time and will.
I want to encourage you this month to STOP! And pray, relax, enjoy a good book (not ministry-related), go for a walk, watch a fun movie, spend quality time with your spouse or children, etc. Take time out and let God build your church and ministry by His Spirit, not your works.
Enjoy life!
Your friend,
Peter
